I'm looking for a Turbo Timer. Any recommendations? Thanks, Mike

Hey Builder12, turbo timers are a real handy device to allow the turbo to cool without sitting there and waiting. Most have adjustable timers i.e. 1,3, 5 minutes. You set the timer, turn off and remove the key, lock the vehicle and walk away. when the timer runs down the engine shuts off. Most as well have an interlock of sorts that prevents someone driving away. Usually it's connected to the emerg' brake. Ensuring the turbo is cooled adequately at shutdown extends it's life and saves $$$. Thanks for the input Ken. I'll look there. Mike
Wowzer dude. I surely got confused on that one. I used to call it a shut down timer. Had one on the large car for a while, didnt like the idea of walking away from a hot engine tho. I'd really feel better if I was there just in case something went wrong.
Anyway, by the time I get to a parking spot (nice and easy) I am ready for shut down.
I appreciate the explanation, sorry .
As I stated above, I had one of the timers in my 18 wheeler. It was some time ago and I suppose they have changed. The one I used in my truck was simply a timer - pull into a restaurant or truck stop and set the timer (you know how the big riggers are, always in a hurry to see their favorite waitress).
It would allow the engine to cool down and then shut it off. The problem back then, if someone wanted to borrow the rig, all they had to do is turn on the timer and jump the starter, just keep resetting the timer and they were good to go.
Some of the loads I carried were quite valuable and I removed it after I gave it some thought.
I would rather be around the truck while it is cooling down or letting everything settle down to a tolerable allowance before shut down.
That is my 2 cents worth. I hope this helps.
