what they tell me its soppose to let you be able to walk away from your truck with keys in hand after a long haul or long fast drive with out you having to wait for the egts to cool down its supposed to shut off at the time 5,10 min the time you set it to
O, ok. It don't take long for my EGT's to go down after a long pull. Does it keep the engine running for a few mins after you leave the truck? How does it work???
Better than a Turbo Timer is the Isspro Temp Minder... It shuts off at a user defined temp instead of wasting fuel when not needed with the timer.
I don't have one myself because of the way I drive it. Sure, I push it hard but when I am coming down to a stop, I drive it gently. By the time I stop, engage the E-brake and shift into park, take the seat belt off, it is about the right temp.
HOWEVER, if I found that I shut down hot all the time, I too would get what you are talking about.
i had one on my rx-7 works great. It was made by Apex'i. I paid 75-100 bucks for it. It had a couple of different functions that you could run off of it as well. It was really easy to set the timer on it as well would range from 1 sec to like 10 minutes.
What it does is hook into the ignition kind of like the keyless start. So that when you set the timer to your desired time it will cut the truck off. You can still use all your key functions such as locking the truck and setting the alarm etc.. I think it is a good idea for all vehicles with a turbo so that you dont get a drastic cooling affect when you shut down.
Not sure how much the Temp thing clay was talking about costs but like i said mine wasnt over a hundred bucks and i know the top branded ones werent over 200.
I try to always shut mine off when she's below 400*

I was wondering what is considered hot. I usually just look to see if the needle is between 200 and 400 and then shut down. Looks like I am on the same track as you guys.
