Tailgate Won't Open
I just last week purchased a 2002 Eddie Bauer Expedition. This may be a really stupid question. I can't open the tailgate. The tailgate window opens but not the tailgate. I know it works because the guy i bought the truck from opened it. So am wondering if there is a security step I am overlooking.

Push the door unlock button, then try opening the tailgate. BTW, you do know to open the entire tailgate you turn the handle in the opposite direction than you do for opening the tailgate glass, right?

when i turn the tailgate handle counterclockwise it does nothing. it feels like the locking mechanism is still on in place. when i turn it clockwise it opens the glass ok. that's why i am wondering if i missed a security step. don't know.

Then I guess it's broken because the tailgate should've popped open. You did pull out hard when you turned it counterclockwise, correct?
