Hey guys I'm wondering how much trouble its going to be to change the front leaf spring bushings on my 77 f250? It looks like a fairly simple job but everytime I think something is going to be easy it always turns out to be a royal PITA. So can anyone tell me what im up against and in fact what benefit will new poly bushings give my truck? thanks and have a great holliday!
i did the ones on my 78 a few years ago. everything went pretty easy to say the least. i used a saw zall to cut the bolts and a torch to burn the old rubber bushings. cleaned everything up with a copper fitting cleaning brush and installed the new urethane bushings. peice of cake...
thanks for the advice, I wanted to do them this weekend however the kit i bought doesn't include new bolts, and I don't have a torch. you don't happen to know what size bolts I will need and a good source to get them? thanks again
If the spring bolts come out it isn't that bad to change them. There are 3 to do, the one thats a PIA is the upper one in the frame that is attached with rivets.

I don't know if they for sure us the same size but when I did mine I used grade 8 course thread 9/16 I think 5in long. Spend the money and get a small propane torch to burn out the bushings in the top bolt swing shackle. While the bushing is good and gummy use an old bolt to push it out. Then the factory bushing has a metal collar that has to come out that will have stayed in the housing its a pain to get out. Most likely you will need a punch with a narrow chisle tip to cut through it. Once its out use a half round file to smooth any gouges in the housing. Grease the new bushings befor putting them in. Hope that helps.
