Anyone used this kit before on their 6.0? I found a thread in the 6.7 section that one guy had used it and seemed to like it. But there's really not alot of people that I've seen running it, just wondering if there's a reason for that.....
Was planing on using the cheap ol pucks and replace my oem springs with new oem ones, after 165k with such a heavy engine I'd like new coils either way.
But for little money more Bilstein offers a kit where the spring rates are matched to the valving of their 5100's shocks. I'll be using the 5100's regardless of method of leveling.
With the shocks being around $78 each, the coils work out to basically $100 each. What do you think?
True. If I was to keep the oem springs, got the 5100s and the kit your talking about I'd be out $210ish. So for $150 more I get brand new coils and hopefully better than stock ride. Irregardless though I'm wanting to replace the coils so I think the kit will be the better way to go
Anyway, was just wondering if anyone had actually used this kit before I take the plunge!
Bilsteins 5100 fronts for our trucks on amazon for 66$. Whichever level you choose, make sure you get the appropriate length shock or your springs will bend because they wont be a full height. ask me how i know. stock shocks and 3" pucks in the front by the PO.
Awesome thanks Sarge that's all I needed to hear. I had their shocks on my last truck and loved them so I have a feeling I'll love the coils as well. On a side note, did you add anything additional to the rear? I added an additional 1 inch to the rear of my last truck, it looked nose high/squatted in the rear without it.
And did you get a full 2 inches? Or more or less? Thanks in advance
I've talked to other companies that make coils and they said on diesels the actual lift is less than what they advertise because of the additional weight.

I would assume hopefully that the shocks they provide are the right ones for 2" higher than stock with the kit! But good point. I'm going to replace the the rears at the same time, I'll get those on Amazon. Gotta love Prime. Thanks for the tip!
Amazon carries stock height rears and 0-2" fronts. Perfect for a level. I for one am not afraid of pucks, nor wheel spacers (But they do wear things out, how much, no idea) That being said, full spring kit instead of pucks over stocks could be a much better ride, i would hope
Lol that's quite the blanket statement..... That's why the truck gods invented air bag springs! I load my truck up constantly with river rock, crush and run, mulch, and top soil. Always something I'm working on at my property, I'm a bit of a diy landscape nut can you tell?

I have thought about getting airbags. What brand do you have? I am seeing air lift and firestone a lot. You can get the bags and brackets for 250 bucks. That's all I want. I wouldn't run an onboard compressor.
Haven't ordered them yet. They'll go on shortly after the leveling kit and I'll be using the Airlift setup. I'm with you though, no onboard compressor, just going to put the schrader valves on the license plate.
The value is awesome though I agree. What I can't decide is weather to use the setup that sits on top of the leaf pack or the one that sits on the inside on the block bump stop arm. I'll never be running a 5th wheel
I had planned to put them on my previous truck but knew I was going to be getting a crew diesel at some point. Didn't want to waste the money or install and then remove later

Does one setup give a smoother ride over the other? Bed loaded or empty? Can you not use one setup if you are planning on a 5er?
Sorry. Didn't answer any of your questions, but came up with some of my own after reading your post.

I did get the full 2", the trucks ride was much better with the new springs as well. I leveled my truck and I put stuff in the bed all the time, and tow heavy trailers with this truck on a regular basis...that's its main task, so I disagree with Speakers statement.
I also have air lift air bags, and Id recommend the on board air, trust me when you have it you'll love it. Its nice being able to level it whenever and where ever you want, no need to hit the gas station. I'm actually going to add a Viar system to mine with a separate tank so that I can air up thinsg at a camp ground or the beach if need be.
