Unhappy bucking under load

when I go up a hill it seams like the trany is not down shifting when it should. when i feel the motor struggling it bucks. if i give it more fuel it down shifts and takes right off. the truck runs great unless I'm going up a hill and give it just enough fuel to maintain speed. If i give it enough fuel to accelerate it takes right off. i have no CEL but have 3 codes P0281 (cylinder 7 contribution/ balance fault), P0282 (injector circ low) and P0603 (internal ctrl mod kam error). I cleared them and drove 100miles now I have only P0281 and P0603

See what happens if you unplug the EGR valve.

Could have weak injectors that are sticking?

I just poured in 2qts (1 jug) of the Hot Shot diesel oil additive made by Lubrication Specialties to see if it will help. Google their name and check out their website.

I used their product a few years back and even sent in a sample for oil analysis and all is fine with the product.

I have a weak injector (per my Ford mechanic hooking it up to their computer) and am wondering if I have carbon/oil build-up on the oil side of the injector... known as "stiction"... which causes the injector to operate slower than it is supposed too... (when under load).

Good luck,

I would go so far as to say that you have an injector issue. Yes HSS will help with the stiction problem, my concern is the code(s) Have you: checked your batteries, checked voltage on FICM, changed fuel filters, are you running synthetic oil?

all of the above have been checked and changed this month. My oil only has maby 4 to 5,000miles on it. time to change but this has been doing this for awile. just started doing it all the time. I used Rotella T6 5w40 with 4 12oz bottles of prolong. I have 116000 on the truck.

The use of prolong is not advised!!!!

Oil additives cause the oil to "foam" due to be used under high pressure through the HUIE injection system.

I would discontinue the use of Prolong additive.

The "Hot Shot" additive is made for diesels and was tested by International. I only use it once in a while and even then I get/am worry-some.... but I used it before and all my oil analysis came back fine.

When motor oil foams or aerates, it causes the injectors to "miss" and be starved for oil. Oil additives for cars and diesel trucks are different.... in our trucks, oil is used a poor mans hydrolic(sp) fluid to operate the injectors... so it is used and exposed to more than just a "lube oil"... which is why motor oil shears down in the 6.0L PSD motor and why "carbon build up" happens.

I too thought my EGR may be defective, but acording to my Ford dealer it is fine and no codes.... and I changed out my fuel filters with Racor/OEM fuel filters... and I still have issues... so I am trying the Hot Shot additive for 5,000 miles (just changed oil and new filter last night and added the full jug/2qts of additve).

A quality diesel rated motor oil is all that is needed in your 6.0L motor and OEM made oil filters.... but I will support occassional use of the Hot Shot/Lubrication Specialties brand additive to remove carbon build up on the turbo bearings and injectors.

every few months mine will start the "bucking" under load. I unplug and replug the 3 conectors on the FICM and it will fix it. The retaining tabs on mine have broken off, so that is why I have to play with it so often.

I have just 1 retaining tab that broke. I used a long zip tie to go around the FICM and between the wires on plug. It's been a year now still holding so far so good!!!

iv been using prolong because PowerStrokehelp said to. today i replaced the air filter unplugged and the EGR. i didn't get a chance to drive it today. Friday I want to flush the trany. I should change the oil. I'm not going to use Rotella t6 this time. I will keep it full synthetic. I like the Amsoil I used the 1st oil change. but at $162 with my membership I would like to find something I can get at the parts store. The only parts stores we have out here are Advanced Auto and Auto Zone. Do they sell something full syth other then Rotella? I'm also going to check the injection Harness. Any one have a part# for the new harness?

The more I read about this powerstrokehelp guy the more it seems like he's trying to mess up trucks not fix them. Maybe he thinks he'll drum up more business for himself?????

Prolong = FAIL
Scamsoil = FAIL

Rev-x, by all reports, seems to be doing a better long term job on injector stiction than Hot Shots secret, but yall know how "reports" can be.
