Exhaust Pipe Donut?

I'm putting the 351W in my '82 F150 and am puzzled about the exhaust manifold to exhaust pipe connection. The Felpro gasket kit had 2 different donut/exhaust flange gaskets in it - one 2" ID and one 2 1/4" ID. However, the outlets of the manifolds are the same size - 1 3/4" ID - which would imply the gasket set was wrong.

On the other hand, I don't remember taking any gaskets out. In fact, the manifolds have a cone-shaped taper on them that is a good match for the flare on the exhaust pipes. But, the FSM says there are supposed to be gaskets.

HELP!?

I've had problems getting the correct donut gasket for mine and my friends 83, I think they are cataloged incorrectly.

Some dont require a gasket, it sounds like thats what you have

Thanks for the input. I kinda thought maybe it didn't need a gasket since it resembles a very large flared connection. Guess I'll put it together and try it out.

Ciao

The ones without the gasket are a lot less prone to leaking. Best of luck
