I have searched...and I just can't find a good source for replacement sheetmetal for the '61-'66 Fords. I am hoping someone on here can direct me to the right place. I am about to acquire a '62 Uni-body shorty that is going to need floor parts, cab mounts and inner rocker steps, etc. I'd like to nail down a source for this stuff before I go to the trouble of getting this truck.
I have a question along these lines. Most of us have seen the good and bad quality of replacement sheet metal. Is there a rule of thumb on the value of a vehicle depending on the metal quality that has been done?
Say for instance, the restorer does excellent work, but the customer insists on low quality replacement sheet metal. The repairs would be correct, just the quality would be lacking. Is there a brand that stands above the rest and increases the value when sold or brought to auction? Is it even relevant?
One gets what one gets. There are some really bad parts made in the usa out there and there are really good parts made in china. Go figgure.
For cab mounts i would only use the ones stamped from the ford dies. and those are the two piece ones. The one piece units are not correct and need major fitment to get them to work.
