I am planning on a new clutch install. the existing one is just about shot. I have done some research but want to confirma few things before I start. I am planning on replacing the clutch disc, pressure plate, pilot bearing and slave cylinder. I was going to use a LUK kit and slave but I dont want to soen moeny on thistruck. I can get a perfection kit from advanced. kit includes the above 4 items. I can get it at advanced for $166 the LUK stuff at pepboys is $260. in my research i found that the top 2 bolts are the toughest to get out. the best suggestion seems to be to drop the crossmember and driveshaft . then let the tail end of the tranny drop down and you can reach the top bolts. My question is can i just put the front of the truck on jackstands and will that give me enough height to drop the tail of the tranny to reach the bolts..........the kit comes with the line removal tool and a clutch aligment tool.......any feedback is aprreciated
I have used Perfection before without issues. And the last one I used had Perfection on the box but had Luk stamped all over the parts. Make sure and have the flywheel surfaced the fly wheel surface can make or break a clutch job
thanks for the feedback. For $166 plus tax for the pp, clutch and slave you cant beet it............I am getting the slef adjusting one I think the OEM was aself adjusting one.thanks again...
I dropped the tranny and I have the new PP and clutch bolted up but not tighten.
What is the best lube for the spline and the slave. I saw some suggestions to put anti sieze on the spline and lithium based hight temp greas on the slave....................also I put a small amount of high tmep disc brake grease on the pilot bearing area........should I remove the pp and clean that grease out and replace with the lithium grease?
