Trying to install the delete pipe. I know the sensors will be hard to remove so I thought i would see if I could get them to move before loading the Spartan tune. The two most outbaard are no problem but the two in the DPF are tight. I'm using a 12 mm wrench and rounding corners. The one closest to the rail doesn't even look accessible and it looks the worst as far as corrosion and heat. Are u pulling these before the pipe or with the pipe DPF/DOC on the ground.Truck has 18,000 miles.
Any advice is appreciated.
BTW any mechanic that can't tell components have been removed and reinstalled is new to a wrench.

Best bet is to leave them in and get new ones for your DPF delete. If you need to go back to stock for any reason, it'll be easier on you because they'll still be in the DPF. Just reconnect & go.
Thanks, not a bad idea. Do you find the new ones at ford or a local auto parts store. Shot them with PB Blaster this morning and will try once more tomorrow.
so im really new to all this.
does anyone have any pictures of the DPF. or even some before and after shots. with and without?
has anyone done a writeup on it as yet?
Another 80,000 miles and mine will be deleted...However, don't you remove the sensors and use a tuner to eliminate them from the puter, or do you have to add them to the straight pipe?

I thought with some tuners you had to move the sensors over to the delete pipe and with others you could just disconnect them.

I believe most tuners require them to be added to the delete pipe and most delete pipes are made for them to fit. And as far as I know you need them in after the fact to monitor EGT. Best advice for these has already been mentioned and the smartest option is to leave the factory ones in the stock pipe and buy new ones for the aftermarket stuff, last I heard they were $100 a piece from Ford but I'm sure you can find them cheaper.
yeah i bought new ones and i think they were around $90-$95 a piece...but i think Spartan actually has them and you can order from them @ a cheaper price.
Just got off the phone with Spartan and was told that the newly updated tunes no longer require any sensors in the exhaust pipe.I hadn't heard this before. I was told they could ship a new pipe with no bungs for the sensors or simply install plugs.
I should have asked if this effects the EGT reading as I have read this is one of the sensors.
Just found the answer. Spartan posted a sticky to their site explaining the updated V2 software and the elimination of the exhaust sensors. Seems you'll need to request the update and update the DD. Off to buy some pipe plugs.
