I dont know if this has been asked before, but Im curious about who in this forum has own his truck SINCE NEW? I would like to hear a little story about that.
Well, since I am the second owner of my 96 (bought in 98) I will tell you about my fathers 97. He ordered it in October of 96 and it took almost 6 months to get it. He ordered a CCLB single rear wheel F350 4X2 loaded with automatic. Ford called him after 3 months and said they could not get it with the automatic so he changed it to manual. 2 1/2 months later his red F350 came in with an automatic???? Of course he went thru the same crap when he ordered his 84 new in 83. Anyway the truck now has about 190k on it. Other than 3 transmissions and a new fuel bowl assembly the truck has been trouble free. Also, the truck has been to 49 states during its life.

Ok, thank you for the input. good story.
but I dont think you are the only "first owners" Will see later.
I know of two in my area that are one owner trucks. Both F250 4X4 crew cab short beds with shells. The only real difference between the two is the exterior color. Both late build 97s. They live about two miles apart. Sorry its not what your looking for Jose but I thought it was worth mentioning. Plus a bump for you! Happy Holidays my friend!

Pete,
Thanks for your comment and for the bump, but maybe there are not to many ONE OWNER truck here as I supposed.
Mike, If I post my window sticker, will you believe that I'm a 'one owner'? No, not really but the first owner left it in the glove box. LOL I'm the second owner though.
Me too Glenn, second owner, first owner put on 70k in 3 years, mainly highway miles towing a horsetrailer (called and talked to him, he traded at the dealer). I've put 80k on in 10+years. Should last forever at that rate, right?
Hopefully Darin, Mine was eight years old with 82K and I've put 101K on it. The guy before me pulled a 5th wheel but not a big one. It was complete stock when I got it.
Ok amigos.
Im the third owner, the original owner was from TX, then the second owner bougth it to him, he is a young mexican boy and imported to Mexico to Monterrey N.L. MX, then I bought it to him, the interesting thing is that I saw an ad in the internet about a truck diesel in Monterrey, but it was a Dodge and I went to see that truck and I didnt like it, to much oil leaking, not TLC, not registers of maintenance, etc. To make the story short, I didnt like it, and the guy (owner of the Dodge) had a friend and he knew that he was selling his Ford, so he contact me to him and when I saw it, I fall in love, so I bought it. It had 139+K in 2006 and I´ve put about 6k miles since then. I mostly use it to camping and to tow my old TT. It was totally stock and, with the GREAT help of this forum I have been modding it as is in my signature and I have learned all of the little I know now about diesels. So BTW thanks to all of you my friends and happy hoolidays to all of you.
I've owned my 97 truck since it was new. The dealer used it for a plow truck so it had 300 miles on it when i bought it in 97. how they put 300 miles on it plowing their lot in only one winter i don't know. Don't care those dealers can really B.S. I put 10G down Financed the rest . when I went to sign the loan they had the total amount to financed, but I caught it before I signed. That torqued me pretty good. Bought it anyway. Had my mechanic put a Banks Kit in and it broke down on the way home. Still wonder if he really put the Banks chip in or kept it. After fixing their mistakes I decided to do the repairs myself. I was a pretty good DIY mechanic but I was afraid of diesel motors and computers in trucks. I had to fix a leak in my canister that blew the fuse. So i said i would try got the canister off and brought it in because i didn't see how to take the heater plug out and didn't want to break it. I know ya think i'm a idiot. but after that Ive been repairing everything from ball joints to turbo leaks, fuel pump. The tranny went out at 140,000 but I had a pro rebuild it. 250,000 on it and it runs great! Drive every day to work. Have to replace the PS line when I get back. I want to put Stage ones in but can't afford it now.
Great truck all paid for always hauling big loads always worked. not empty very much. I'd like to have the same truck. New again. I'd build the tranny, put in stage ones and a bigger HPOP And a locker or two.
Ya, some of those repairs you just have to take an attitude that if you break it, so what! Its a whole lot cheaper even if you break it then taking it to the dealer. O course, it helps if its not your daily driver and don't care if it sits for awhile before getting a new part.
I met a guy in my area this summer with a late 97. He ordered the truck and still has it. In July it had just turned 25000 miles. An OBS fan has never seen anything more beautiful. Still original everything, like a museum piece.
Well, till now only one is ONE OWNER , and I think most are SECOND owner . And it seems that the seconds owners are keeping his truck for ever, dont change it in anyway. Im been the third owner, and I think Ill keep it also for ever. .
dbf74,
maybe next time could take a pic of that museum piece and show it here.
