Tire time

I'm finding myself needing new tires before winter hits, 99 F250 5.4, so I don't know what tire to go with, I mainly use the the truck for winter dd, getting firewood, hunting, plowing snow and light off roading, nothing crazy though, light towing, and anything else that I need to haul in a truck. I am wanting 285 size tires, more for them filling out the wheel well than anything else, but I don't know what tire to go with, I defiantly want a radial m/t like the toyo m/t, but a little less expensive than those.

So far I have found
Kumho Road Venture MT KL71
and
MT-754 Buckshot Mudder

Have any of you ran either of these tires? Opinions? Suggestions? I am leaning towards the kumhos, as they are E rated tires, but that doesn't matter as much because the heaviest towing I'll be doing is a car trailer.

Take a look at Cooper's Discoverer STT

Cooper Tires - Discoverer STT - On/Off-Road Tires

Lots of sizes in E range as well

OR Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac:

I'm also in the market for new tires, I still have the original ones on my truck! 85,000 miles on the original BF Goodrich tires! Any suggestions for replacement? I'd also like a beefier look than what I have now.

I've heard mostly positive from people with the Buckshot. Don't know anything about the Kumhos though (personnaly not a fan of Kumho).

Although a little more, I went with the BFG Mud Terrain T/A KM2 (285/75-16 load range E) and they have been the best tire I've ever owned.

look at the firestone m/t, have had 2 sets on different trucks ( dodge , chevy ) both diesels. excellent tire and long lasting. cooper sst are also an excellent tire. cant go wrong with either. i would stay away from goodyear duratracts, goodyear is not like it use to be, same thing with bfg , compound is way to soft now.... good luck

Thanks for all the responses, my new question is could I mount a 285 tire on a 10" wheel? There's a set on craigslist that I like and are at a good price, their alcoa wheels.

I would stay away from Kumho's. I could never get over 30K miles out of them.

BFG T/A KO rated for severe snow. Look for this symbol.

How can I tell if they have the snow rating or not? The description just says "BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO" and it has raised white letters.

Ask the tire supplier. Not all of the KOs are rated for severe snow.

Tire Rack will tell you if you look up the specific size and load range.

They claim they are both the same, and that they no longer make the one without that rating picture on it, as people weren't buying them because they thought they were different. I said as long as they have that mountain/snowflake icon I'll buy them!
