Body Swap Q's
I was wondering if 65/66 bodies would bolt up to a 73-77.5 4x4 frame. The reason being that I just bought a 75' f150 4x4 4spd that doesn't have much of a body left but I do have a 65/66 F250 2wd 4spd that has a good cab left. The frames take the same bumpers and the mounts look like they would line up as far as the cab goes. I know the steering columns are different from 2wd to 4wd but I hear that the parts interchangeability between the 65-77.5's is pretty good so would this swap work for the better part? The big things I'm worried about are brakes, clutch linkage, shift linkages, Tcase clearance, and most importantly, the mounts lining up. What I'm not worried about is saving the box or rubbing problems associated with sheetmetal because the fenders are going on a 63 merc.
Has anyone ever attempted this kind of swap before? Is this a can of worms waiting to be opened?
EDIT: just saw the near identical thread right below this one sorry about that
I understand the mounts should line up but has anyone ever tried using the stock linkages? The 66 is a 352 and the 75 is a 360 so I'd assume they're as close as I can get.
I don't care about the box as I've built a flatbed now for the 75.
The 65-66 (not certain about 67) 4wd trucks were built on pre 65 chassis and will not swap.
Your original question is bolt hole swap between the chassis for the cab & front clip. I would lift the cab/clip as one piece so I didn't have to align the fenders up again.
The 73 up chassis is longer behind the cab because of 4" added to the rear of the cab behind the rear cab mounts.
You can make it work. You will have to adjust for the frame bed holes, they will not line up.

I'm sure this subject has come up before.
