Ok guys got it fixed it was the switch. The springs where broke down just like the one shown above. I also found that the plastic retainer ring was about to fall off from wear. So I went to the Stealership and got another one and replaced it was $7.00 and some change. Thanks again another repair from FTE!!!!
can this switch be changed without taking off the rod that connects to the master cylinder?
Yes. There's a U shaped plastic clip that hold it onto the rod. The clip runs the full length of the switch so it's almost like you're pulling the switch in half. When you get the new one out of the box and play with it, you'll see how it comes apart, then you can remove the bad one.
I bought the springs at princess auto (in canada not sure where you can get them in the US) I got a bag of like 100 with all different sizes for like $4 for it was worth the 4 springs I used to fix the switch (was not any long enough so I stacked a couple) .... oh and sorry about the double post above
