Cruise Control Fuse?

My cruise control stopped working today on my trip back from Yosemite. Tried looking through the owners manual, but apparently it doesnt have its own fuse. Everything else seems to work just fine, so Im gonna start there.

I believe it is #12 in the engine compartment (drivers side). Mine quit a few months ago and it was the clockspring. About $80.00 at dealer. It also fixed me airbag light that was on at the same time. Some say your horn will not work if the clockspring is bad. but my horn worked so go figure.

No ABS light, horn works, along with all the other steering wheel controls. Just checked every "viewable" fuse, and nothin. The search continues. It worked earlier today, then stopped working after I fueled up.

Thats how mine quit after I stopped for food. I did nothing about it for a month or two and the abs light came on. It could also be the switch on the end of the master cylinder it is about $20.00 at the dealer. There are two it is the one closest to the end or front of truck. I replaced it first and did not fix for me though but has for some it is a cheaper place to start.

Do you have a part number? I'm assuming the resevoir need to be drained for the swap. From what I've read, some say the "clock spring" may need to be replaced.

don't have a part number but many have said after replacing the deactivate switch on the master cylinder it solved the problem. no you do not have to drain it you will get a little fluid out when you pull it out and if you put the new one in right away you will be ok. Like I said that did not solve my problem had to change the clock spring and that takes about an hour to do just use caution when removing the air bag. There is a procedure for doing that.

First off, there is no fuse for the cruise control on a 6.0L. The cruise is entirely a function of the PCM.

Second, follow the diagnostic in the link below and report back. There are two switches, the Brake Pressure Switch on the master cylinder, and the Brake Pedal Position switch on the brake pedal that can both fail and cause problems with the cruise control. The clock spring can fail, and the cruise buttons can fail. Following the diagnostic will help identify the problem.

Fuse #12 in the Power Distribution Box says it's for the Brake Pressure Switch, so it appears that it's possible that if that fuse were out the cruise control wouldn't work.

My truck is older and doesn't have this fuse.

I did a search about this problem a few months ago and I wish the thread you gave the link to would have come up. That has some very useful info on it. I had the same symptoms but the culprit was the clock spring for both.

That would seem to indicate that either the switches are bad, the clockspring is bad or the wiring in the column is bad.

The clock spring is the wiring for the cruise control in the column I thought. So that would narrow it down to either the clock spring or the switches. My bet would be the clock spring from everything I have read and my experience. Although it is not my money.

Don't know if it a dealer item only or not but I got mine from the dealer for $73.00 I believe.
