Not sure if this helps
But TJ drilled and tapped his and installed a grease zert in there.

Not sure if that would work here or not.

I was just perusing through reading this post and it reminded me of that.

His pics are not in there but I have a copy of the pic somewhere.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ml#post7593061

And now I scroll up and see all other other pics here with zerts-------------- lol

O-well

I need to know how to get the up and down assembly apart so I can install new boots and add the grease fitting. mine got messed up when we welded the aluminum bracket back together, we couldn't get the pin out of the bottom to get it apart.

With a good cleaning of the large bolt and a nice coat of lithium grease I don't see the need for drilling/tapping for grease fittings? Not saying it isn't a good idea -but it might be overkill, considering it took 18 years for it to seize up the first time, and that is mostly my fault, as last year we had a mild winter and I didn't put the truck into 4wd a single time.

Does anyone know if the all steel setup from my 93 F150 will work on a 97 (old body) F250 with a broken aluminum shifter?

Then that answers my question. I think swapping in the steel one makes much more sense then messing with that aluminum piece of crap.
