I need to know how to get the up and down assembly apart so I can install new boots and add the grease fitting. mine got messed up when we welded the aluminum bracket back together, we couldn't get the pin out of the bottom to get it apart.
With a good cleaning of the large bolt and a nice coat of lithium grease I don't see the need for drilling/tapping for grease fittings? Not saying it isn't a good idea -but it might be overkill, considering it took 18 years for it to seize up the first time, and that is mostly my fault, as last year we had a mild winter and I didn't put the truck into 4wd a single time.

You must be somewhere that doesnt use much salt or calcium
Remove the shifter from the t-case and put in in a vise. Lube the bolt where it is suppose to pivot. Keep lubing it and try moving it. A lil at a time. DO NOT BRAKE IT. Ford gets over 300 for that stupid cast aluminum piece. Used ones go for 100+. After you get it moving, remove the bolt and wire wheel it. Then take a plumbers round wire brush and do the inside of the aluminum. I drilled and tapped mine and put a grease fitting in. or you can just put some anti seize or grease on and put back together. I also did a grease fitting on the vertical shaft too
DOH! I broke it dammit. Will try to get one at the junk yard
Can anybody tell me the part number for these or where to get them?
