First of all please be patient with me. I am not much of a mechanic. I was given a 1979 F150 4X4 with the 351w this past year. worked great all summer and still runs just fine. They power steering pump went out and I am attempting to replace it on my own. I got a new pump and from an auto parts store and replaced it and almost everything fit just fine. I went to attached the hose.(the one with the threads not the little plastic nipple on the bottom) and the connection didn't match. the instructions the store gave me show two different types of connections and doesnt elaborate why there is two. but my new pump has one type and my hose has another?
has anyone ran into this or know what the heck i need to do to finish this job.
also tips to make sure I dont get air in the lines when i do get it all back together would be appreciated also
need to get you the other pump or go an buy a new pressure hose that will if the pump being its a 79 i would get the hose myself the best way to keep air out is to put some fluid in the pump an hand turn it without any hoses on it just to prime it and then fill it up after hoses are on and belts and then start the engine with the pump cap off an turn wheel from lock to lock a few time make sure it is smooth turn from lock to lock that pushes the air out if any is there but most of the time there not much air if any
