1973 f100

I have been looking at numerous driveable project trucks and was wondering what price I should be looking to pay. I found some on craigs from $500+ in running condition..but in this price point usually they are a basket case. I'm looking into one now thats been sitting for 2 years...one small dent on fender and mainly a little surface rust only (primarily in bed), 302 or 360, not sure yet...newer full exhaust, automatic and interior not tore up that i can tell. owner is looking to get $1000...seems a good price after some I have looked at for same price.. has brake booster and ac compressor..but its not working and i would likely rip it off anyways. I assume parts are still easy to get for these trucks ?

Well I gave $1 for mine, but it was a family deal. Parts aren't too terribly hard to come by.

I just picked up a 1973 F100 a few days ago after about 3 weeks of homework and back and forth with the owner. I paid a shade over $1000 for it. Truck prices vary widely depending on where you live, although I feel that a grand is a fair price for a running truck with some issues. Less for one that doesn't run or is clapped out, and more relative to the condition and lack of issues.

I can tell you parts for these things are still widely available. It's amazing to me. Advance Auto, NAPA, and Autozone still stock just about everything you'd need for one of these. Anything they don't stock they can get in a matter of days. Other than that, NPD, Mac's Antique Auto, Auto Krafters and Carolina Classics have been recommended to me by other forum members as aftermarket suppliers of quality parts. I've used NPD and Mac's and have been totally satisfied. You can basically build a new truck from parts out of the catalogs.

I would also recommend cruising eBay and using a good junkyard search site such as www.car-part.com.

Good luck from another newbie.
