I would be interested in seeing these pictures as well. I saw a 2010 in the Fisher dealer lot with a blade installed. I saw they had removed the entire air dam. Couldn't get a good look at what the truck looks like with the plow mounting hardware and no air dam.

Here are some pictures of my truck with the mount installed , i don't have the horns that get pinned on the mount right now, which the plow mount slides into.

Thanks for posting the pictures. Since the Fisher & Western mounts I believe are the same, were they able to use factory holes for the mount? That is one of the grips I have had about the Meyer installations. They would drill new holes in the frame and not dress the holes and I would end up with rust in the hole and on the mounting bolt.

With the air dam off, it sure changes the look upfront. Do you think if the air dam were trimmed it could be remounted?

Check and see if the 2 wheel drive air dam fits.

On my 08 I replaced the dam with the 2 wheel drive version and it fit perfect. (Fisher plow)

I plan on doing this when my truck arrives in a couple weeks.(Fisher Plow)

Thanks for the recommendation. I think it looks a bit naked up front without it. Let's keep in touch. It sounds like your truck is a couple weeks ahead of mine. My truck isn't scheduled to be built for another couple of weeks.

fisher and western use different mounting, fisher is on solid mound were the western is 2 parts with the 2nd part being the removabal ears the plow slides into. its strange as western, fisher and blizzard are all owned by dd yet all 3 are different in their own ways

Here is my just installed Fisher XLS plow on my F250 just did it today in my opinion this is the best setup fisher ,,as far as the dealer told me is the only company that makes a push to attach to plow mounts in off season .that you not only don't see the plow mounts ,but you can also have a nice set of KC lites on there...

Thanks for posting the pictures! It looks like you modifed the existing air dam, correct? Just notched out the where the mounts are? I will print the air dam modification picture and tell them to "do this". They have been removing them on the trucks I have seen.

Also, I looked seriously at the XLS. Have you used them before? I am still leaning towards the V blade but sure would like to have that 10 foot reach!

Just wanted to say that this is one of the most informative threads that I have seen in a while. I have no use for a plow, being from the Houston suburbs, but the information has been great. Thanks,

My Skilz - what part of NY are you in? I am in the Buffalo area this week for deer season. Also spending some time checking out the local plow dealer prices. If you are in WNY, can you drop me the name of the dealer? Would certainly be interested in having them quote me. From your pictures, it looks like a quality installation. Are the harnesses run clean (i.e. rubber grommets on the firewall, battery connections good)? Can you run some pictures of the rest of the install? Did you go with the control pad?

Randy -- this is a good thread. Dealing with aftermarket products can be tricky. Seen way too many crappy installations, not to mention products that just aren't design for the rig being forced fit. Glad everyone is sharing their experiences. Snow plows are a BIG investments. Maybe we can send some snow down your way...

Yes , i notched out the air dam myself with a dremel .Most of the dealers i spoke with just remove them ,as it is more work to notch them ... but i looked into the price if i ever want to replace it its $100 for a new one .. No i never used a XLS before but since i do some large parking lots the 10ft could not be better for coverage ...Thanks

You guys down south are missing out on all the fun! Nothing like starting to plow at dusk and plowing until dawn two days later! I know a lot of guys hate plowing and I have to admit there were a few days of all night plowing that I was about to scream UNCLE!

But there is nothing more satisfying than driving that pile up 10 feet in the mound! Of course, getting paid for it doesn't hurt either!

I do a lot of streets and the ones with cul de sacs are killers. The XLS with the wings that point the snow in made a lot of sense for keeping it on the blade. You are probably like me, spending hours chasing what falls off of the board.
