01 7.3 no start

01 7.3 no start

This is my dads truck, also the one in my sig. Truck has done it a couple of times before but it would always start an hour or so later. today my dad takes off to work(not sure when, i was at school), first heads to lowes, stops parks the truck and goes inside to buy supplies, comes back to to the truck(not sure how long it took him) and it wont start, he didnt want to pay another 250 to have towed like a time before, so he called one of his workers and they came and picked him up. He left the truck there all day, and had me come pick him up around 530, drove back to the truck and i tried to start it, nothing. I turn the key, all the dash lights come on, wait to start is light, everything, headlights, cab lights, everything works, when you turn the key to start the motor, nothing, all the dash lights shut off and it doesn't crank one bit. I didnt have a tool set with me and it was dark so i didnt try to do anything. Any ideas??

He's taking my truck to work tomorrow

So no clicking or any noises when you turn the key? Unless the batteries are dead, try shifting to neutral and starting. Sounds like the neutral safety switch is kicking in because it doesn't think the tranny is in Park.
