Saw a ad for a 351w redline marine engine. Seems the boat was a 2005 model that was involved in a fire, boat is a loss but motor untouched. Motor is described as 325hp 351w with Holley 650 4v marine carb, would this motor be usable in a truck or project vehicle, or is the marine cam poorly suited to varying RPMs in vehicle use? Boats usually maintain constant rpm ranges for long periods. Stated as only having 43 hours total at time of fire...........seems like a heck of a motor,......... thoughts?
It's a good motor probably has GT40 heads and of course a marine cam. FYI... the cams in the '80's 351HO and Gen1 Lightning motors were old marine grinds so it's not like those cams are totally unstreetable.. though some may not be SD EFI friendly.
I wonder what the chances are of dropping it in a rig with a set of short headers, and running the marine carb as is?............$1,500 seems pretty steep too.
Thanks, Paul!
I might just go look at this thing, it would make a hell of motor to drop in a 93 Mustang LX coupe sitting on friends property minus motor and trans.
If it's a marine engine is it the correct rotation?
Good question..........it was a single engine not a twin, so not running into the counter rotating engines thing........But I have no idea about the units rotation at this time.
