Most estimates put it around a gallon each hour idling.
It can be more expensive than that if you are out of warranty, as the 6.4L does NOT like to idle. Can cause EGR valve failure, DPF clogging as well as a number of other bad effects. I do not recommend idling more than absolutely necessary.
Thanks for quick reply...I left houston heading to north dakota and coming from 70 degree weather I forgot about it being nov and cold as s%$&. So last night I ran the truck for bout 2 hours to stay warm
Its really unfortunate that they shouldnt idle, in stock form anyways, living/working in the north-oilfield all we do is idle!
What about the bandaids/medics on site that get to sit in their trucks all day, they are idling, I see lots of 6.4s idling all day.
We very often have to wait on site and sit in our truck- which is idling for hours on end. (btw, dodge 5500s which are at the dealer every other day)
