93 f 150 , 4.9 , came out to start and no go , cranks fine , ignition seems ok , have spark , can't hear any fuel pump sound , the relay seems to click , the reset button on passenger kick was not kicked out , reset it , checked ground on the test pin , still no sound , squirted gas into it and it fired immediately , any other ideas before i drop the tank and replace the pump ?
thanks in advance !
whacked it , to no avail , checked the inertia switch and get the two second power response , pulled the tank and don't have any power in the pigtail that attaches to the pump. swapped relays , still the same ,
check the continutity of the wire or trail it back manually to see if you have a break in the wire. I'd also check the high pressure fuel pump on the frame to see if all the connections there are good (if you have one that is... I know my 88's and 89 do). basically make sure all your wiring is good. I've had a mouse, squirrel, or rust eat a electrical wire/connection and impeade the pumps from kicking on.
If nothing of the above works, before buying a new pump, check the pig-tail elec. connector that feed the pump, it's above the fuel tank so you'll probably have to take it down (unless the bed latch mod has been done already, then you could easily reach it from there). That's what left me stranded for the 2nd time in 18 years since my family owns the truck.
