i had 2 change the ipr . and thats how i broke the icp. while i had the ipr out no oil ran out. i checked it and its still full. is there a reason it didnt run out? everyone told me it would b a mess and i got nothing.
i did the same thing when checking somethings under the hood, sorry day for you, its 170 from ford give or take. truck can be driven liek that but might run a little funny. when the ICP sensor is unpluged it will search back to the PCM too run factory parameters on a best guess situation. so it will run but might be a little funky. Best way i found to remove is when cold, just slam some vice grips on there and twist off. just a screw in sensor to the head. good luck!
the reason you had no oil back in your hpop is because the ipr regulates the oil and when the oirings are junk they leak the oil pressure out of the hpop and the res and it basically goes dry when you shjut the truck off. normall there should be a quart of oil in there. when restarting hte truck, poor it up to the fill plug before attempting to restart or you willforce are into the system. that will make it run a little funny too for 30+ miles

That is the first time I have ever heard of that ...
No worries...when I R&R'd my IPR I had a little oil flow out into the Valley, I verified through the Res. plug that all was well...."The Mess" may have a lot of variables...Oil temp, Oil Viscosity, Plug OUT!....partial vacuum...who knows...
