352 Draft Tube

I am looking at replacing the draft tube, if needed. I am told a PVC valve would be better, maybe just a breather.

What are the pros/cons of replacement of the draft tube vs just leaving it be?

Its worked for 45 years, why replace it now.... If you want to go with a breather cap, that would work too, it just vents to atmosphere. Unless of course you have some politically correct neighbors you just like to rile-up.

No road draft FEs installed in pickups, where did this engine come from.

I say go with a pcv system.

I dont know. A lot of mysteries on a truck I am helping a friend with. I am thinking the tube was a add on, and will probably just go with a breather for him. But It is driving me crazy trying to figure out thats for sure. Of course on closer inspection, the fact the tube is held down by plumbers tape, should have been a clue to my pal!

Positive Crankcase Ventilation was not a 50 state requirement until 1966 for trucks, 1971 for passenger cars.

1965/70 FE road draft tubes.

Ok Joe, but do I just run a hose down the back for it? That is what I am wondering, I dont want it to splatter onto his hood or anything

Just stick with the stock road draft tube,
as someone else said its been like that for 45+yrs why change it.

If you are really set on adding a PCV setup you could go with a different carb, or a spacer plate under the carb with attachement
