why do you ask? 2 5/16 ball and hitch are rated at 16000 lbs and 12' of weld is stronger then 6 bolts that a class 5 hitch would be
oh believe me bud im not questioning the strength of it i know itll hold up to about anything i was just wondering if they would hit you up for any alterations to the towing receivers. there was a guy whos truck i worked on (put new front and rear bumpers on, intake, exhaust, and more... cant remember it all) and after the rear bumper went on his hitch wouldnt fit back in cause of how the bumper mounts were made (the new rear bumper had a hitch welded in to take its place) but he wanted the other hitch on as well i told him that i wasnt gonna do it basically for liability through the shop and he went and had it mounted somewhere else and later maybe a month or 2 he got pulled over because his hitch was not mounted to the frame and somethin else dont remember. so i didnt know if they got you for anything like that. his was a 96-97 f350 psd

ya, any utility body has them mounted to the bed, not the frame. they just have a small cross tie that supports the forward/backwards load on it, not tongue load so its no issue here. and there might be a issue if i modified a manufactured one, but this is 100% custom built.

thanks snuff, i love it. im going to add a 1/2" plate that ties the top and bottom together when i make the rear bumper.

ya man, you can check it out when you have me bring this crew cab out to you
Yeah I don't want to go as insanely high as you, maybe 4-6" on 35's, enough for clearance in the bush but not so high I have clearance issues. I really like the traditional towing at that weight without a 5th/goose, cause I always have stuff in my bed. The goal is stacks, "L" shaped tidy tank with a tool box resting on it. And a couple spares, cause I wanna swap to dually's. The hitch would reduce space for 35's drastically.
The 6" with 37's looks pretty sweet, but the 4" with 35's seems more realistic for me, I want bigger tires for the look, but the gf will refuse to get in the truck, and she's not really going anywhere...
it was actually the rack i had on my 99 silverado. i threw it up there just to check it out. its too long for the cab, too short for the shell. i was gonna build one 8' for the bed but never got around to it. and as the truck went up, the less room i had for a rack lol
this is my chevy with the rack.
