Make the exhaust quieter

I'm another who pulled the 6637 off and went back to my AIS.
I have a 4" Magnaflow exhaust and there is no noticeable sound difference with or without the Magnaflow muffler while just cruising along. I miss the mean sound it made when mashing the skinny pedal without muffler but I'm leaving the muffler on. I do more cruising then pedal mashing.

Yeah, please don't take my man card. I just got the truck and I LOVE it. I just like my wife and kids, too, and they don't enjoy the cab noise from the current set-up. I like pbr's approach- quiet on the inside, and roll down the windows to hear that pleasant diesel rumble.
Thanks for all the ideas, I will be putting on the 6637 to see what I think. the Ford AIS may be a possible solution. Hopefully the kid's college funds will survive this obsession...

The PO installed a 4in SS Dynaflow single pipe and tip from the muffler back. From looking underneath, the original muffler is there (he lived in NY, safety inspections) and a SS pipe clamped on the muffler output and then a wider tip at the bend just past the rear tire. The problem is it resonates like crazy at 1800-2000 rpm (where I like to set the cruise). Any ideas?

I'm not too sure about the "most guys" part; yes many say they want louder, but there are many more of us who value our hearing.
Take it from a 54 year old vet who few in one of the noisiest aircraft we had (the KC-135A), and who now has hearing loss & tinnitus, quiet is what you want AND need! Loud noise will make one irritable, and in a worst case scenario, make you pass out.
