Replace resonator with straight pipe

I had my mechanic look at my exhaust and he said all that is rusted it the resonator (I am in Canada). He said where I live I don't need a resonator for safety. My muffler is fine. So is there a straight pipe I can order that would go from my exhaust manifold straight down to my muffler? Would this save me money?
Thanks again

If you look at your exhaust you will see that the resonator is after the muffler, not between the exhaust manifold and the muffler.
Or did I miss understand the title of this thread?

From front of the Navigator to back, Engine-Exhaust manifold-pipe-resonator-pipe-muffler-tailpipe. Am I not correct? What i want to do is go,Engine-Exhaust manifold-pipe-muffler-tailpipe. I am wondering if there is a pre bent one I can order to go from manifold to muffler?

Are you sure you're not talking about the catalytic converter here? Not sure if the '03 is still with the "pre-catalytic converters" before the main ones, but it's Manifold, dual cats, Y-pipe, big muffler, bend over rear axle, small muffler (this one is not on Expy) and then tail pipe.

Something like this, but I think the Navi has an extra small muffler at the tail pipe, which goes straight out back, and not out on the side like the Expy. That is if I remember correct from the shop manual, which is for an '05. The four "bulges" in the front are all cats. They later removed the smaller ones, as my '05 Expy does not (thankfully) have the two small ones.

Hard for us to say since you're in a different country. Do you have any muffler shops around you that you could ask?

I will try and get a picture in the moring but my mechanic says no Catalytic Converter. He called the big middle muffler you talk about a resonator, I think pretty much the same think. That middle one is what is rusted out. My thought was that i would just straight pipe it back to the little muffler, I like the sound now. I was hoping there was a straight pipe that was already bent to get up over the rear axil.

If you remove the big muffler, I can imagine that the truck will be considerably louder. Depending on your preferences, this may be a good thing and a bad thing..

Well the big muffler is not doing anything right now because there is a huge hole in it where the manifold connects. Has anyone seen pre bent pipe to get over rear axil? Bending the pipe is more expensive then welding at the muffler shop.

I haven't seen anything factory made, but it's not a complicated bend if it's only the large muffler that has to go. The pipes are only slightly offset, so if you don't care too much about the aesthetics, you could just have them weld in a straight pipe with an angle-cut pipe on each end. That should be an easy thing for them to do.

I'm going to go out and jack it up this moring and tale a picture because by the look of the attached pic they have the resonator at the end, connected to tail pipe. I swear on mine the resonator is between manifold and small muffler.

Could it be that it's an aftermarket exhaust if it doesn't match what you see in these pictures?

Possible. I know the small muffler is a ford part. Is it standard to have the resonator at the end?
