V-10 Exhaust Mods That Sound Good?
Anybody heard any v-10 exhaust/muffler mods that sound GOOD? I've heard a couple Dodge V-10's with dual exhaust and they sound like @#&$. I was thinking of just a flowmaster 3 chamber muffler with dual tips from it to the back of the truck. Keeping the single pipe going to the muffler from the engine. Any ideas ??

Unless I have totally misinformed(and I don't think I have , because of the sound difference), the Ford V10 has a different firing system.
I know exactly what you are talking about though.
I have a buddy that has the Dodge V10 with dual exhaust with echo tips very similar to my Ford V10.
There is NO comparison of the sounds. The Ford sounds more like a truck is suppose to with duals.
The Dodge sounds like a very sick 8 cyl. or a 6 cyl. Plus when you really stand on it people will be ducking. Thinking that a jet is about to land on them. I nearly hurt myself laughing the 1st time I hammered on it. It scared the &%*$ out of the guys that were standing there talking.
I went behind the converter with a Y-pipe and straight pipes (no mufflers) on back with 3 inch stainless echo tips to finish it off.
Good Luck

What exactly do you mean by "echo" tips? I am not familiar with this term. Are they resonator tips? I have always used the 24" chrome tips that are 2.5" to 3" in diameter with the slanted opening at the end. Also, is your truck VERY loud or does it have a nice rumble to it. I want a mellow rumble with a good bassy sound. Maybe you can give me your number and I could call you and listen to it. If I sound desperate, I am. I'm used to modifying the exhaust on my vehicles and I'm afraid to mess with this one cause I've never heard one with any kind of exhaust. Let me know.

My echo tips at the end are measured at 3.5" and really clean up the look of the truck. They usually run about 25 dollars apiece for the cheap ones and on up!!

The tips that I use sound to be about the same as you described in your return.
My exhaust increases in volume as the RPM's increase. As for it being to loud like the older V-8's, it does not require you to get a louder stereo just to drive down the road. It has , to me, a good mellow sound going down the road, and on a decline when you let off the gas , it has an awesome RUMBLE Rumble rumble. It does not have that cackling sound as the V-8's do when you let off the gas going down the road in normal driving.
If one is to HAMMER down on the gas it will get peoples attention!
Hope this helps.
sorry, cautious as to I give my number out to in modern society.

Well, I haven't heard anything back on your decision on exhaust. I know one thing, you got me listening to mine again and the fuel mileage has went down do to the constant romping on the pedal to enjoy the sound.
Curious to what you have done.

I had a y pipe split into 2.5 " duals with 2 chamber flowmasters and 4" chrome tips. It looks good and sounds good. Nice when driving at highway, throaty and aggressive under acceleration. I have gotten compliments from other pick up owners and performance car owners alike.
