Which one to get?

Ok guys and gals. I am looking at two different Ex's. Both are black.

1) 2003 Limited v10 4x4 103k for around $10500

2) 2000 Limited v10 4x4 207k for around $5000 Recently had ball joints and front end work

Both appear to be in equal shape interior wise. I could take the 5k I save and put it away for a re-power and tranny down the road and or spend it all on a Ex with 103k.

Which would you do?

I would buy the 5000 dollar one and put the actual $5000 difference in its own savings account to fix and maintain the ex.

I agree. I would buy the cheaper one and get the transmission built up and get some power/longevity modifications!

That's pretty much what I was thinking. Do you think 5k is a good price?

is there a shop around some more option? i got my black X with 83K on it for 8000. had to fly a couple states away but around here i would have paid 12-14 for it. i should just keep flying out east and bring one back a month to make some money!

I have looked up to 400 miles away and there just doesn't seem to be much at all. I don't know when you purchased yours maybe the oil prices were high so the truck market dropped.

My thought are that the ex will probably not ever drop in value more than it has. you can find 1995 suburban's for 4500, so if I have to re-power her I just hang on to it and know I have a good truck that is dependable. We have a 94 chevy truck that we took the same approach on and it just turned over 290k. This is my reasoning I guess. I am trying to see the "big picture"

Do your own research, but in my opinion I would surely get the 2003.
I honestly think the 03 is the best year for Excursions although the 05 seems to be the most popular due to the grill change.
It took me 2 months of looking nightly on the net to find mine but there again I was on a mission to find one with no previous damage, black, rear bucket seats and all options. Bought mine and never looked back.

i've owned both a '00 and '04 and now a '02. i'd say go with the 2003. there were many updates that make the truck better IMO. one the heads were redesigned as to not blow spark plugs, the cupholders were made deeper and work much better, the autolock deal was added in '02. also auto headlights...ect there is alot of reasons to go newer...plus its newer!

i just paid $10.8k for my '02 limited v10 4x4 with 102k so i say go with the lower mile newer truck.
