As one of two Airforce Brats, my brother and I will soon be leaving to visit our fathers grave as well as my father-in-laws final resting spot. Both of these gentlemen were Proud Veterans. I would just like to extend my humble gratitude to all of our men and women serving right now as well as every one of our past heros.
Amen...let me add my THANKS to all those out there that have proudly and unselfishly served this beautiful country...without YOU we would not be able to enjoy what freedoms we have...so THANK YOU!
My dad served in the Army and is a Korean War Veteran...he was called home at the age of 76 in July of 2009 to be with mom...I've been to South Korea 4 times in my life (non-military)...and I've seen first hand that if OUR troops had not been there for the past 60+ years following the Korean War as a 'deterrent'...the North would have invaded the South without thought...it is OUR men and women standing in harms way on that peninsula that have protected OUR freedoms as well as the whole country of South Korea...and that is one small example of why I am so grateful for everyone that is and has served.
It is the people of our military that have given us the freedoms we enjoy today, my roots go deep in this great country we live in, my GGGG-Grandfather was part of our Revolution for Freedom with Ethan Allen and the Green Mountain Boys, my GG-Grandfather served twice during the Civil War and my father who served in the Pacific during WWII with the Second Marine Division.
My father served in the US Coast Guard, and US Army as a Ranger in WWII and Korean War. My Uncle landed on Normandy. Thank you, all who have served past present and future for defending us near and far.
