Now do I have to get my DP retuned for it. Also how is the wastegate on these things. Leave it as is or make some adjustment on the rod before install.
I'll say you'll love the performance, but personally I'm not a fan of the constant whistle. I don't want to necessarily be as quiet as the new 6.7, but I'll probably look at pulling most of my dash out next summer and adding 2 layers of sound deadening material to my firewall, then do the entire cab. My hearing isn't great (race motorcycles, loud car stereo, clubs..) so I get annoyed somewhat easily. To each their own though.
And no, you don't need to get your tunes reburned for the 38R. I just went from stocker to 38R with no issues whatsoever.
Hey Brian congrat on the turbo. Let me know how that turbo sounds if its as loud as people say. I know some 38Rs are louder than others. Might in the market to get one. I want turbo LOUD.......

Thanks
Put an ATS compressor housing on yours and leave the WW on. It will be LOUD.
holy cow batman, sounds like I gotta 747 landing in my engine bay. Windows down it aint to bad but when they are up "HECTIC". Spools up to 5lbs as soon as I hit the go pedal. Takes nothin to hit 20lbs. If I went any more I would risk loosing my licence-lol.
Hi Brian, that must be pretty scary. I just finished putting my stock set up back together with the RR aramide boot set and AFE 6637. It is pulling 18psi boost max. I actually popped a boot off. Went around and tightened all the clamps up some more (have the RR plenum inserts) and had another test drive. No boots popping off now. You'll have to wind your intake clamps up really tight if you ever want to go over 20psi.
Sweet stuff, congrats on the turbo. It's on the books for me next summer. I see that there is an option for a 1.15 A/R housing swap on RR, what does that do for you? Has anyone gone with the upgrade? Don't mean to hijack.

Hey, man... how about posting a video on YouTube so that those of us who can only dream of a 38R can experience it!?
yeh when I rebuilt my stock turbo and got all the ceramic coating done I blew a boot. Scared the @#$% out of me. Got the 11mm out and tighten up real good. I was waiting for same thing to happen with the 38R but I didnt push her that hard. You dont have to lol. The bigger housing gives more drive pressure at the expense of lag down low. The 38R is for my engine rebuild Im just running it on my PMR motor until the other motor is done. Got my 250/100's today- I want be putting those suckers in this motor, dont trust meself. And I dont actually own a recorder. Got the missus looking at one now for that exact reason.
Congrats on the turbo, it is a monster fer sure. I tightened my WG rod all the way in per the guys here, they said everything would be fine. I can max my boost gauge out at 30 psi's no problem when getting on it in 80E and higher tunes and I had a few FTE members here with me to verify those numbers at WOT, on stock sticks. Great turbo.

I had a embarassing moment few weeks back,i took my intercooler pipes off and painted them, next morning was taking my tilt bucket to work (for my 34 ton excavator) bucket weighs 1600kg's ,trailer weighs probally the same, was at a set of traffic lights, a GU nissan patrol was sitting next to me at the lights with 2 guys in it,patrol had big exhaust ob had a bit work done to it..
We take of,guy gives it to the patrol,im towing over 3 tonne, and keep in mind we take off up hill from the traffic lights prob 20% grade,i add more power catch up to the patrol, guy drops back a gear to get rid of me,so i add more power, guy is now ringing the guts out of the patrol,so im right next to him,so i put the pedal into the floor, effie drops back a gear and we gone,i blow the nissan patrol away LOL,get in front of him, pull in front of him in his lane to pass a slow truck in my lane, just as im about to bag up the truck, fekkin boot blows off ,i lose half me power,i have to make a mad rush across 2 sets of lanes to get out of the way of all the FASTER traffic, that i just bagged up DOH
