Instrument Cluster swap w/ PATS

I want to put a instrument cluster with a tach in my 2002 XL F150 with out one now. I know there has to be some reprograming of th PATS system. My question is this something that can be done by the home mechanic or do I have to go to the dealer? Anyone done this out there?

Has to be done with a dealer scan tool.
