I would be interested in seeing how this looked, but for functionality, I think I'll keep mine.

Here in florida, they rust off...... But they are a functional support of the cab roof and I seen a few with bucked roofs after the drip rails rusted away. If you shave them, you may want to put some way to support the roof skin.

I wouldn't do it. Stop and think, that rail is what keeps water from getting in the door jamb. I'm willing to bet that the weather-strip will leak if water was to run straight from the roof onto it.

Vehicles in flroida rust from the top down. Alot of salt air does this as it blows from the gulf or the Alantic ocean all year long. I seen the reverse from vehicles from up north, they rust from bottom up.

That salt air gets into those drip rails and where the sealant is cracked and rust eats it up! Another area that rots out is inside the cowl area, I seen many trucks with rot holes there too. Now if someone drives through saltwater, then the bottom rusts out like the northern vehicles.

The drip rais are a structural part of the cab. It is how the roof is secured to the cab its self. You loose the drip rail, you loose your roof

uhm well from what ive seen it can be removed... the drip rail is under the roof.. welded to the inner roof then the outer roof is kinda pinch welded to the drip rail...

so if u cut the drip rail off then weld up that seam then it should be good as new...

if the door gasket leaked then i think my interior would be soaked after going to the car wash and spraying around the door...

i think they look like ****... mine isnt rusted or anything i just dont like them... reminds me of a chevy...
