Bent Radius Arm

Well, I was out blowin off some steam on a back road, took a curve doin like 50 or 60 (gravel road) and lost control. I bent my driver-side radius arm. Anyone know about how much this is gonna cost? I'm in highschool and this it my daily driver.

well, that depends on if you plan on doing it yourself or not. I landed my 95 in an irigation ditch a few years back and radius arms were like $100 bucks each. I changed them myself and used all of the old hardware (nuts/bushings/heat shields). I only had one that was bent but changed both just to keep everything symmetrical.

It sucked trying to get everything apart, but with the help of PB blaster and a torch, I was able to get everything apart. If you are only doing one side, you're probably not looking at much $$.

Think I'd be ok with a JY arm? Is there a diff between 2wd and 4wd?

and JY arm should be fine. Just be prepared to have a hell of a time getting it off the donor truck. Taking everything part once sucks already, having to take apart two trucks just sucks more.

I'm pretty sure 2wd and 4wd trucks are different. I wouldn't mix-n-match.

I figured they'd be different. I ain't too worried 'bout takin the donor part off. One of my local JYs won't let you in the yard, and the other don't usually charge for removal.

Ok, got most of the parts taken off to take the radius arm off. Is there a good way to get the "bolt" on the top of the axle housing off. The bolt that amounts to a piece of all-thread with a nut welded on. Do I just need a really deep deep-well socket, or is there a trick to it?

It's the bolt that the spring mount attaches to. C'mon guys, does anyone know anything? I need to get this fixed. I can't figure out what it's called, so I can't just chop it off to get to it better and then replace it.

You can get a deep socket to take it off, but i just used a wrench and torch. I couldnt get it off without any heat, but i imagine if you got a good gun and a socket you could get it out.

I cut like the first three threads off the top, then heated it and used a deep-well socket. The socket wouldn't grab enough because the bolt was originally too long. I'm learning this is a much longer and harder repair than I expected.
