my mother has a 1999 Expedition. She loves it, and so do dad and I. The only issue Dad and i have is that every time you put the truck into drive, the doors automatically lock. I can understand if you are hauling kids in the back how this could be a good feature, but we don't have to worry about that. My question is this:
1) is there a way to disable the "auto-lock" feature, and how is is done?
2) if we disable the feature and in the next ten years i give my mother grandchildren to haul around, can u re-enable this feature?
The instructions are in the owners manual if they have one. Each time you do the procedure below the feature toggles off, on, off, on, etc.
Here are the instructions for deactivating/activating the autolock feature:
Before following the procedure, make sure that the ignition is OFF and all vehicle doors and the liftgate window are closed. You must complete steps 1-7 within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must wait 30 seconds.
1. Turn the ignition key to RUN.
2. Press the power door unlock control three times.
3. Turn the ignition key from RUN to OFF.
4. Press the power door unlock control three times.
5. Turn the ignition back to RUN. The horn will chirp.
6. Press the unlock control, then press the lock control. The horn will
chirp once if autolock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long chirp) if autolock was activated.
7. Turn the ignition to OFF. The horn will chirp once to confirm the procedure is complete.
no we live in a tiny little town in the middle of iowa... no need to lock em here...
Of course not, after all, Clark Kent was raised on a farm in a small Iowa town called Smallville. I don't think I'd lock my doors either if I lived there.
