The NAV system limits use while the vehicle is moving. Any way to disable this uber "safety feature" ? Funny how you can use the Zoom feature while moving, however, the "pan" and "mark" buttons are locked out until the vehicle is stopped. What about my passenger navigator?!?!
If it is aftermarket, look for wires going to the brake pedal or controller harness. Your Year, make and model, and what nav system may help someone answer this for you.
Pin 14: Vehicle Speed Sensor - Gray/Black: This wire is used for the speed sensitive volume on the OEM radio. If down the line you add a navigation system that has a hookup for VSS, this is the wire you want. For a normal radio, not required.
What you do is look for the wire that limits the play while moving and find a good ground and ground it. That will make the nav system think that its stop and you will be able to bypass it. Now remember that is how you do it for a nav system/dvd player in dash. Thats what I did in my Chevy and Acura for my In dash monitor. I had Kenwoods. Hope this helps. Always disconnect the battery before you start.
I've been trying to figure this out for the last couple of days. The system depends on input from the ABS module. It outputs the speed sensor signal. I tried pulling the ABS fuse to see if the NAV functions would work without getting the speed sensor signal but the NAV does not work when this is done. There is an ongoing thread in the Expy forum on this...
I was at the www.avic411.com forums and found that the AVIC-N3 has a hiden swich on the back of the unit behind a sticker that says woranty void if removed. If you move the swich over it bypasses the motion safty feature. Other units may have similar feature.
Unfortunatly, the factory Ford NAV systems do not...If it did it would save me a great deal of time and trouble. But then again, what fun would that be?
did some searching and visteon makes the nav systems. I have searched google everyway I can think of. Here is what I come up with basically same solution that has been discussed before. The drawback is the same as the other solution http://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/s...stem+passenger
Good find, I was wondering what would happen if an interrupt switch was installed on the VSS wire. The speed sensor produces a waveform that increases in frequency with increased speed. There should/might be a way to alter that frequency in-line to fool the NAV into thinking it's not moving; or at least find the threshold frequency that trips the tracking on/off. I have noticed that the unit will function at just above idle speeds.
