Trailer lighting problem with SD, need help

This is the first time I've hooked my RV up to my new truck. Plugged into the factory 7-pin and no lights. Was working great with the older truck, but won't work on the new one. Am I missing something? Everything looks good, but won't work. Does something have to be set on the cluster screen? I'm at a loss, need help.

There's no setting that should cause this. I'd meter the connection and/or try another trailer to troubleshoot.

There is an article at etrailer.com that lists all the wiring connections, it should be fairly easy to connect a multimeter and check for power at the various pins, just note the orientation of the cutout is at 12 o'clock on the picture and is rotated 90 degrees if you are using the factory connection at the bumper.

what does 'no lights' mean?

park, brake, turn, interior?

sounds like a bad ground truck to trailer..

I've been trying to figure this thing out all day. When I said no lights, that meant no exterior lights on RV as though theirs no power to the trailer. I hooked up my wife's Tahoe to it and all worked great. I pulled the Ford factory receptacle out and checked the wires, looked good, although they were different colored wires from normal RV trailer wires. Checked all the truck fuses and their good. It appears to be grounded good. Don't know what else to do. Does anyone have the factory prep package with the Ford wiring and did you have any problems? This frustration is driving me nuts. I'd pay good money for someone to come over relieve me of this problem, need to hit the road in a couple of days. Many many thanks.

Can you put a multi-tester on it and see if you have any current getting to the factory plug? With the diagram above, you can quickly tell if you have any power at all or if just individual circuits are bad.

Epic, a test light shows I have power. Head lights, signals, brake lights show I have power. I plugged into the bumper 7-pin and the same thing, nothing. My stock trailers and boat have different connectors, so that won't work.

If you weren't so far away I'd cruise on over and try to help. If you checked for and have the proper power at the factory plug, I'd start checking one by one to see if you can get power to the trailer lights and see if that lends any clues to this. I would run a jumper wire from factory plug ground to trailer plug ground, then use another jumper to check the other tabs one by one and see if any lights come on. Otherwise there's always the warranty, if you have time for that.

I ran jumper wires and all lights are working except, tail and running lights (the brown wire). I plugged everything in normal and the brown wire (running/tail) has no power. everything appears to be ok, except the main lights.

I had a similar issue when I hooked up my 5th wheel for the first time. I had a blown relay.

Sandy, when i first hooked my horse trailer to the factory installed 7 pin connector...i got nothing. I examined the truck connector and the center (reverse) connector pins were so close together it wasnt allowing the other pins to make a connection. I have hooked up many trailers and on my first attempt it did feel like it had gone in far enough. Even the switch cap housing came down and grabbed the trailer plug where it was suppose to. Once i spread the pins apart a little....contact and all is good now.
Does the truck say you have a trailer hooked up on the display screen?
Hope this helps.

The truck does say I have a trailer hooked up. The brake, signals, emerg flashers all work now, but the running/tail lights are dead. It appears, as said before the brown wire seems to be bad. I'm wondering if maybe the wiring harness is a problem. I tested the brown wire below the truck and right behind the receptical and no fire. If the relay is bad, wheres that dude at and which one?

Which fuse would I be looking for? According to the manual, I didn't see anything for running/tail lights. I did indeed look in that box under the hood, wow what a mess. I really appreciate you guys help, I wouldn't know where to start without your input. Thanks

Spot 29 is the trailer tow park lamps relay.
Spot 26 is the trailer tow park lamps fuse (30A).

The fuse panel is located in the passenger footwell.
