wouldn't i also be able to disconnect the line off the valve, and activate the pump and see if it pumps gas through the line that way?
i dont have anything to test anything with...
I don't have the personal experience w/ a 302 in a light truck of this vintage. (F-150, well under the 8600# cutoff)
I understand you think the switch is ok...
But what if it's only making contact on the front tank side?
Can you confirm that you are getting power *out* towards the rear pump?
You can hear the pump run, why would you want to disconnect the lines?
Everything is pointing towards the switching assembly.
Just disconnect both tank's wires there and swap them.
If the rear runs and not the front you've found the fault.
BUT, you already know you have crossflow, so you know the assy. is NFG.
ok, so today i haven't really had much time to really do anything about it,
yes, i do believe the switch is ok, and i see where your coming from on that,
tomorrow i will have all day since i dont have school, but i also know part of the day will be changin the driver side valve cover gasket.
i also think i found a temporary fix, at least so i still have one tank.
if i can find a similar valve to what i have, but only has 1 supply/return line tank side, instead of 2 each.
sometime tomorrow or friday, getting to a jy for parts will be necessary.
Temporary fix.
Cross and reconnect the wires so your rear pump is the one that comes on.
(like I suggested in post #32)
Then it returns fuel to the tank you're running off of.
No more overflow.
Save your pennies for a NEW switching valve.
so today i was able to actually work on my truck and figure everything out.
i figured dropping the rear tank was a good place for me to begin since it's where my problem was.
when i was able to reach the lines after partially dropping it, come to find out, the supply line was kinked in two spots within the first six inches of the line. so after i worked the kinks out, i put everything back together and went for a drive around town. didn't have any problems with cutting out on the rear tank.
haven't been able to tell if the crossflow issue is still present, within a few days, i'll know about it still being present or not.
