Heater core tips/new problem
1st. LOOK UP THE DASH REMOVAL ONLINE! as it turns out, you really only need to remove the air bag, glove box and maybe the panel by your knees when driving.
2nd. the quick connects are a bitch. you dont need the old heater core anyway, so once you have the heater core in plain sight, cut the two metal tubes that go from the core into the firewall. once they're cut, you can pull them through the firewall, there much easier to get too when there in your face. if the connects break, no big deal. its perfectly fine to cut them off, then slide the ends over the heater core and use hose clamps to hold them on. thats what i ended up doing.
3rd, you dont need to drop the steering column. as much as it might seem like you do, ya dont.
now, number 3 brings me to my next question. i dropped the steering column at first, and i broke something. on the shifter cable, where it attaches to the linkage on the column, theres this little plastic straw thing around the cable i guess to help keep its rigidity to push back in. well that broke in 2, so now i cant shift. i can crawl under, put the truck in park manually, and then hop back in and shift out of park into second only, but cant shift anywhere else. the shift arm just moves like its not connected to anything. whats the name of this part on the linkage/cable?
