Oil pan quart quantity

Kinda embarrassing that I don't remember! Trust me, it's been a couple years since I've changed the oil... I was wondering how much oil a 1990 351w will hold. I am about to install my new engine and we are using the oil pan from the 1990 motor on my new engine (not sure what year the new block is) We have 5 in there now but it's not reading on the dip. Do they hold 5 or 6? Thanks!

6 1/2 quarts was what it took to get my 351w up to the full mark, with a filter change.

My 302 takes 6 , put another one in & check it, prime the oil pump to pressure before you start it with a new motor....Lew

Haha funny story, we did that tonight and my dad's friend was sitting on a mechanic's chair next to the motor and I laughed and kinda made an "oil blowing out of the motor motion" so he stood up and when we primed it, we forgot the oil sender was out of the block and blew oil out all over the chair he was just sitting in! Funniest thing ever...Too bad he moved though!
