hard cold starts

That is probably cheaper then you will find them at any local parts house.

James make sure they are beru's, it seems like many folks have taken to calling other brands ZD9's because they sell better.

oh yeah.8 seconds is not long enough for 15 degrees.
the stock controller will make a good set of 8 glow for 12 seconds or so at that temp.
did you test them already? cus it could be something else,like a bad ground or bad connectors etc.etc.
id at least use the test light method.

i will test them tomorrow after i get the wood unloaded. This truck also has a toggle switch for the gp which the previous owner installed. I always run it for 12 seconds. that just seemed like a good number for some reason.

If the engine starts, it's not the GPs. A bad GP will cause it to run rough and smoke until the bad cylinder finally fires up.

One thing to remember on the diesels,they have to crank over at a good speed.We've put batteries in once when the old IDI was hard to start last winter and then this fall,we put a starter on it.The starter was dragging enough to make it hard to start.

starter and batteries are both new. batteries are 1100cca each. she turns real fast, and it does seem to run ruff until the cold cylinders heat up. Just the last couple times if it is not plugged in it will rev real high and then die. when plugged in it will start up without the gp, since i just recently moved i am having a hard time finding my test light, just about ready to go and buy a new one
