If you do not smoke, remove the lighter. (2) 12 v relays (1) momentary switch. Make a holder for the momentary switch, use the lighter plunger to push the switch in it will run through the first relay causing the second relay to also make contact, but this one is hold-over relay and will not lose power until the truck is cut-off. Kind of like a how car alarm horn works.
I used to always just hide a Toggle switch somewhere (dash vent, ashtray) cutting the main power from the ignition switch..... and if I plan on leaving an older car parked for more than a couple hours I am usually found carrying an ignition rotor around with me..... but if they (the deuche bag theives) want it bad enough there are plenty of them with Tow trucks or pickups equipped with "Sneekers" running around ...... now that I think about it they have been running rampant around here over the last few years stealing any car or truck that looks ratty enough to bring to a scrapyard , a couple of shady local characters with a tilt/slide actually were pulling cars broke down on the side of the highway to a few scrapyards , although they got busted when they dragged a Dodge Ramcharger in to one of the scrapyards only to find that the guy who owned not only broke down earlier in the day but his brother worked at the scrap yard they tried to pawn it off on...
I am thinking about getting one of those fuel tank selector switches for a antitheft devices. Just flip it when you shut the truck off and if somebody trys to start it it will start and get a few feet when it will die on them from suckin air through the open line. Heck if you really wanted to you could get one of them gravity light sensors that kick on when the hood is open and send power to a horn which you could hide somewhere inconspicous. There are a lot of devices like that you could engineer.
Wire the ignition or fuel pump power through your high beam switch. Gives you an excuse to use another switch for the dimmer. If you want to get really crazy, disable the starter through the ignition switch, and wire the horn button to engage the starter. I've seen someone run a chain through his wheel to his trailer hitch.
If all this is coming from the stolen trucks on lately on here. I'd say before making all these trick devices. Try taking the keys OUT of the vehicle. Then if your still concerned push the lock button down on the door. Most vehicles are equipped with them. These simple tricks could have helped a lot on the first one haven't seen yet what the second one was. Geussing either of these very complicated anti theft devices may have helped?
I'm glad the worse thing I have to worry about is some one stealing gas outa my truck the last stolen car was like three years ago from a guy who tried to rob a bank he stole some beat up buick that broke down on the highway then he flagged down a cop car for help. Some peoples kids huh...
I shaved doorhandles ;-) I go to the city so often and at "nice" neighborhoods.. Sittin there lopin at the light and locals are looking... well they get all confused when there is no door handles and blacked out windows... satin black truck with shiny cragers are a magnet though LOL..
