Ah, memories... I remember driving my dads 70 Econoline work van with 3 on the tree. It only had the AM radio because back then, there were at least 5 AM radio stations to listen to! "What do you need with more than 5 radio stations???" my dad use to say.
Heck ... the first car I ever drove had a key that turned on the ignition system ... but the starter button was located under the gas pedal. You had to mash the gas pedal to the floor to get the starter to spin.
It was my father's 1950 Buick STRAIGHT EIGHT Roadmaster!!! The worst part? That Buick was only 10 years old when I drove it.
Talk about feeling old. My truck has been on the road for 30 years, but still has a ways to go to catch up to me.......
I remember the days of accidentally stepping on the dimmer after letting the clutch out in my first truck (and 4-5 trucks down the line). Auto trans was fairly rare in a pickup back then.....

in my days we had one pair of shoes for each kid in the entire neighborhood. if we had to go outside we tied newspaper around our feet and treked 90 miles up hill in a blizzard just so we could get a half gallon of milk. we had to kill and defeather our own chickens, there was no such thing as tv, and even in 2010 lawrence welk is still a sunday night staple on the "color picture box" with wood paneling.
Smashclash, I knew how old you were when you said "half gallon of milk"! It is funny the stories you tell as you get older. I don't have to work too hard to make my kids eyes big and wide with stories from the past!
