Turn off brights?

Originally, I couldn't figure out how to turn on my brights in my '86 F-150. A couple of days ago when I turned on my lights, the brights were on, and now I can't figure out how to turn them off. I tried every combination of twisting, pulling, etc. on the lights control ****. I'm assuming there is a stupidly easily way to do it, but I'm not getting it.

Thanks!

Did you try pressing the high beam switch on the floor near the e-brake?

That’s what I like about old cars and trucks. Everything is located where it SHOULD be. High Beam Switch – on the floor, Wiper Switch – on the dash, Headlight Switch – on the dash, Turn Signal Switch – on the column, Radio Controls – on the radio (duh!), Air Bag – the wife does not ride in my truck.

specially if they are the high beams caused by a particularly brisk wind...

why should a hi-beam switch be on the floor?

and i love having radio and cruise controls at my fingertips on the steering wheel of my daily driver.

the only DUMB design of accessories in the past 25 years was putting a CD changer in the trunk. WTF?

I would hazard a guess that some idiot driver trying to change out cd's in a changer while going 70 on a freeway is worse that someone talking on a cell phone...

Talking I'll give you but texting is at least a push.

Yeah it is, worse is the long haired humans (the ones with the afore-mentioned high beams) putting on face paint while driving.

AH-HA! I was wondering what that thing was on the floor...well I guess that answers two of my questions then, thanks! While I'm on the track of learning all this stuff, how do you set the presets on the radio? I love how the tuner slides over when you push the button - classic.

Setting the radio presets: Tune the radio to the station you want to set. Grab the button that you want to set to that station. PULL the button out until it stops, then push it all the way back in until it bottoms out (all the way in like you were pushing it to select a station). Done.

This thread is making me feel old.

The am/fm radios have 10 presets. 5 for AM, and 5 for FM. Make sure all the preset buttons are LOCKED before switching the band selector, as this could damage the radio. Also make sure you unlock one preset button at a time.

Thanks guys! The high beams are now off and not blinding everyone I'm passing, and I'm able to listen to my preset stations
