tie rods position

2003 ranger 4.0L XLT
Is there a left or right inner tie rod? I didn't think they were different(meaning they are interchangeable)
I put on new inners/outers. I noted the threads. Now my alignment is way off. What did I do wrong??
Thanks

Counting the threads doesnt always work especially if you are using after market parts. I usually measure from the center of the outer tie rod end to the jam nut before I loosen anything. That will usually get me back "in the ball park". I then make fine adjustments to set the toe at 0 to 1/8 inch toe in and get the steering wheel centered. I believe that both inner and outer are the same, left and right.

Welcome to FTE. This is a great site to get all kinds of good help for your Ranger.

Check with the supplier where you got your tie rod ends. I can't speak to the 2003 ends, but earlier models had different part numbers for each one. If you still have the packaging the tie rod ends came in, check the part numbers. If they are different, there is a specific right and left
