They've been made for Fords for some time. Most of the repruction parts places have them for under $60 a pair. I have a pair with the Ford script logo I bought maybe 25 years ago, these are the same except with a different logo:

Ford never offered these step plates, they're aftermarket.
They were first offered in the early 1960's by SoCal Pickups and Panels, now out of business.
Ross: That's a bet you don't wanna make, as these plate are readilyavailable. For one source, see page 72 in DC's 1948/56 truck repro parts catalog (2011 paper version).
Here in LA LA Land, Car & Truck Shop in Orange and Early Ford Store in San Dimas have them.
