My experience with RockAuto has been good. When i order i try to check the shipping costs ahead of time. If the parts i am ordering end up coming from to many different sources i drop those items from the order. Especially if it's only one item and a small one at that. If you don't check the shipping costs if can end up costing as much to ship a part as the part costs. At that point I just as soon pay more for the part form a local big box chain auto parts store.

In my area most of the independent auto part stores are gone. I live in a suburb of Chicago and within a 6 mile radius of me i know of only 4-5 independent auto part stores. All the rest are Autozone, O'Rilley's, Advance, and Pepboys. Of these I prefer Advance. I can order from their web site items such as brake calipers and return the cores to my local store. If i order from RA i have to ship them back to RA and that can add up. Which means i may not save any money by buying from RA.

That is why I didnt order the remanufactured inertia ring clutch for my A/C from rock auto. I can get the same name brand remanufactured clutch from oreilly and save $30 in the long run. The rock auto part is more when you figure in sales tax and shipping compared to the cost from Oreilly.

The on-line catalog is awesome. Even if I don't buy the part from them, they give me an idea of what's available and for how much.

I love RockAuto for their online catalog, because it can help me chase down parts or a list of parts.

I've also been a fan of RockAuto for a couple of things...#1, they carry a lot of Motorcraft parts and often cheaper than I can get them elsewhere, #2 they carry parts that Advance does not even show in their computer (I have run into this issue more than once!), #3 I've had an account set up with them for several years and they give me a discount on shipping because I have stuff shipped to my work (commercial) address.

All in all I've been happy with just about everything I've gotten from them. I bought everything to redo my truck's front end from them because it worked out a lot cheaper than Advance even with shipping.
