I have tried searching and cannot find the thread that someone talked about installing ss, crosslinked flex couplers in their up pipes. Any body know who this is??
I purchased a set exaclty like what was discribed from the recomended vendor. At the time, my pipes were off and I had no way of checking clearance. I am now trying to figure out how to install and cannot see it being possible. The clearance around the uppipes is too tight. How is it done???? All info would be greatly appreciated since I need to get my truck back together.

oldbirb, it seams i saw him talking about some up pipes with travis, not sure though
You can get 2 braided belows from here:
Vibrant Performance Stainless Steel Flexible Coupling
Get the 2" dia, 4" long, Interlocked (not just braided, you want interlocked for up pipes) for $26 each. Cut a
section of up-pipe out, weld on the expansion joints, and weld the flange to the pipe. No more leaks for about $60
and some welding...
c350crew, I believe I know what your talking about. When DZL JIM posted that I looked at them and to me they looked to fat to fit in there. My bellows, which I haven't installed yet, are much thinner. Much, much more expensive too. So, I think I know what your talking about but I can't recommend a solution, sorry.
You have to find a 4" section of the uppipe where there is plenty of clearance around the pipe when installed and put the joint in that spot. It's not too tough to get done, just takes a little time to find the right spot and weld them in there. The parts described have been used by a bunch of companies on uppipes in the past and they still are using them, but they may not be the same exact ones. They could be using shorter pieces or something.
I reinstalled the ds pipe and spent about half an hour trying to figure out where to put. If there was room on one side, none on the other. The gap next to the engine was 1/4" or less. I dont know if during assembly the engines and cabs have any room for adjustment and mine was assembled close together. The bellows I purchased are pretty large in diameter. I just cant see any way to install and am dissappointed. Does anybody think the cab could be scooted back some?

This is where I got mine, 2"X4" interlocked. I cant see any way to mount them, too large of diameter. If I had a spare motor/bellhousing, maybe then I could mock something up. If I dont use mine, I will sell for my cost plus postage if anyone is interested.
