6637 Filter
Many of the Ford diesel filters leaked and allowed dirty air in.
Even the improved units are smaller than the 6637.
I would think that the 6637 is a better filtering system then the stock system. Especially if you use a pre filter sock on the 6637

No, it has been tested and doesn't cause any significant restriction.

I'm new to this game, so please pardon if my questions is way off. I understand the stock filter gets ram air from the front end (zoodad mod helps this?). Air enters the filter box, gets clean and sucked into the intake. The 6637 mod just "sits" in the old filter box spot and . . . sucks air from the engine compartment? No ram air or augmented flow, it just sucks ambient air in? Has the testing to verify thruput and filtering been done with the filter in situ or in a theoretical/lab environement without the the engine "stuff" around it?

Probably not. When I switched to the 6637 from the K&N set up I had to remove the seal/divider.
I don't worry too much about the under hood temp of the air being drawn in as the ambient air temp is usully COLD up here.
